After living a life of misery caught in the grip of active addiction, FINALLY surrendering and allowing God to come into my life, I went into detox and then made the decision to call this program. They didn't call me nor send me an engraved invitation, or smoke signals. I asked them for help!! I am currently a client of this program residing in transitional housing. I've been here for 3 months. I have to say there is NO perfect program!! EVERYTHING that happens is supposed to happen, which in turn allows me to get better with myself. I came to this program primarily because of being homeless, again a direct result of my addiction. Being here lead me to learn about the disease of addiction (i.e. the physical, psychological effects, implementating coping skills to deal with triggers/cravings, and general life skills ) and begin to live life differently. I've been doing so since being here. I've previously experienced several treatment programs but haven't experienced the INTENSITY of learning about the many characteristics of this disease until entering this program. I'm GRATEFUL to God for this experience!! There are so many different facets this program offers. Having PATIENCE and more importantly, ACCEPTANCE and WILLINGNESS, is allowing the process to finally work for me. I say to myself often, "This is not your program Fred". And remembering that my way of doing things is what kept me caught in the grip of the disease of addiction. I can't/don't tell help how to help me. This alone allows my process to move forward. Thank God for Deborah's Place. For it, I remain grateful and show this by the way I live my life today.
I am sorry Mis Kelly Lane that we did not meet your standards. We are trying to get better and thanks for your review.
